Int'l Cooperation Overview

With "International Science and Technology Cooperation Base" as the platform, we adhere to the policy of "going out" and "introducing", hence we have tremendously improved cross-border communication and cooperation. We have established links with agricultural research institutes and universities in 40-plus countries and regions including ASEAN, the United States, Australia, Burundi, India, Brazil and Taiwan. We also have connections with over 10 international organizations such as International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) and International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre (CIMMYT).

As the academy is the window facing ASEAN countries, we make full use of geographical advantages to carry out a series of international S&T cooperation projects. We have built ASEAN agricultural demonstration bases and joint labs successively in Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Myanmar. In line with the "project - talent - base" mode of international science and technology cooperation, we speed up personnel exchanges and transfer of crops and technology. Additionally, we have held more than 20 international agricultural technology training courses with a total of 1,500 trainees, which have improved S&T level of ASEAN countries and received widespread attention and praise.

To further boost high-level youth S&T cooperation and communication between Guangxi and other countries, in recent years, we have been actively engaged with high-level talent training plans implemented by the authorities. We have recruited 13 postdoctoral fellows from India, Cuba, Pakistan and Bangladesh as well as 10 TYSP fellows from Asian countries, which have helped set up long-term partnership and promote further S&T communication providing solid technology and academic support for the involved parties.

To the prosperity of the agricultural academic research, and constantly upgrade the long-term exchanges and cooperation mechanism, we host a slew series of academic conferences on a regular basis such as: China(Guangxi)-ASEAN Conference on Agricultural Science and Technology Cooperation, International Sugar Conference and Guangxi-Taiwan Agricultural Seminar Symposium. As the initiator of International Association of Professionals in Sugar and Integrated Technologies (IAPSIT), Guangxi-Taiwan Association of Agricultural Development and Technical Exchange and China-ASEAN Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Alliance (CAASTIA), we aim to enhance the exchange of academic research, agricultural technology, information resources sharing and S&T application and realize win-win development.
